New York Times bestselling author Tia Williams returns with an intensely romantic, deliciously sexy tale about a woman searching for her handsome seatmate on a European flight—and the unexpected places her hunt for love leads her.
Sasha Cruz knows types. As a booked-and-busy casting agent, she’s always casting — at happy hour, the post office, the grocery store, everywhere. She’s all about finding the perfect person to slot into the perfect role. What she doesn’t do, however, are relationships. Too much energy, not enough time. Men find her intimidating, and she likes it that way.
But when Sasha’s seated next to a mysterious, broodingly handsome Italian man on the way to a work trip in Paris, sparks fly – but they miss the chance to exchange contact information. Now, convinced that she’s lost out on her soulmate, Sasha is on a manhunt to find Seat F.
Sasha enlists her work friend for help in the search, but when she accidentally emails the entire global company, colleagues around the world begin looking for Seat F, too – with some finding love along the way. Meanwhile, Sasha takes matters into her own hands, hiring a smoldering detective who complicates matters in unforeseen ways.
Tia Williams began her career as a beauty editor for magazines including Elle, Glamour, Lucky, Teen People, and Essence. In 2004, she pioneered the beauty blog industry with her award-winning site, Shake Your Beauty - and published her debut novel, The Accidental Diva. She went on to pen two young adult novels: It Chicks, and Sixteen Candles. Her 2016 bestseller, The Perfect Find, is being adapted for a Netflix film starring Gabrielle Union – and her latest novel, Seven Days in June, debuts in June 2021. Tia is currently an Editorial Director at Estee Lauder Companies, and lives with her daughter and husband in Brooklyn.
Another Tia Williams hit!! The story follows Sasha, a 32-year-old casting consultant who has spent the last few years isolating herself following a traumatic experience. Her life takes a turn when she’s sent on a work trip to Paris, and finds herself seated next to a man she refers to as "Seat F."
Imagine meeting your potential soul mate in first class on a flight to Paris, speaking for six hours in an Ambien and alcohol induced haze, only to never get his name or contact information. Sasha and Seat F share an undeniable chemistry; it is just unfortunate that she has no idea who he is beyond a few cryptic clues. This leads Sasha to go to extreme lengths to find her mystery man, eventually enlisting the help of a detective, Wes with whom she shares a complicated history.
Williams’ writing is incredibly witty, and I loved the clever name drops and references that had me laughing out loud throughout the story. While the missed connection premise feels lighthearted on the surface, the author adds so much depth to Sasha and Wes. Both are beautifully flawed characters bonded by their past traumas, and their tension filled, instant chemistry, relationship felt very earned.
While I did find the end a little implausible when it comes in regard to Seat F, this was a quick and deeply enjoyable read that perfectly balanced book, with a mix of mystery, thrills, and romantic comedy.
Tia Williams is one of my favorite writers and can't wait to see what she thinks of next!!
This was such an interesting plot and i really enjoyed the set up and how it was brought about. The fmc meets the mmc on a flight and like the cover says they share a connection but don’t share each other’s contact. The fmc sets out to find him and that leads to them getting to know each other and building a friendship. There was so much tension, angst and that push and pull and the characters did that will they wont they dance. I often felt frustrated with all the miscommunication and there was a lot of it in the second half of the book. There was also a lot of obstacles and family drama that both characters had to overcome. The romance was cute and i was glad they finally got together. I have to say that this authors writing is really good and made the story more enjoyable. This my first book by this author and although this wasn’t my favorite read I definitely will be reading more of her books. Thanks to grand central publishing for this arc for an honest review!
Oof my heartttttt 😮💨💕 Tia Williams done did it again, but there should be no surprise there 🤭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The Missed Connection was an iconically unconventional love story, and I loved every second of it. This felt like the best kind of 2000s romcom tbh with the literal missed connections vibes mixed with the will they won’t they friends to lovers/forced proximity. I loved how Tia incorporated so much honesty and emotions as she usually does bc it took this funny af romance to the next level.
This romance highkey threw me for a loop in the beginning, but I thought it made the whole plot so refreshing and fun. I loved getting to know our actual main characters Sasha and Wes. I really came to love them equally as individual characters and as a couple. Sasha with her trauma and anxiety and Wes with his toxic family and need for redemption 😓 but the minute they’re in the same space they morphed into something so deep, safe and strong. Ugh!!!! Them 2 gave me everythiiiiiiiiing 😮💨💕 I adored all their angst and yearning so so much. Their chemistry was electric and their banter was consistently top tier funny. And watching them lose their grip on reality only to fall for each other all over again was one of the sweetest things I’ve read in a long time.
So thank you Tia for always writing what I need and renewing my love for romance with every book release. Also thanks for writing something for the anxious girlies. I really felt seen by this and I appreciated every ounce of wisdom she included in here 😮💨🙏🏽💕

Sasha meets a man on plane and experiences a "missed connection" when they separate without exchanging contact information. She didn't realize this one event would snowball into life changes for not only her but so many others.
This book gave me butterflies! I absolutely loved it! Sasha's story was relatable on many levels. The writing was beautiful. I felt like I was watching a movie! This story of perfectly flawed people finding love that is perfectly made for them. My heart!!
Thank you Grand Central Publishing for this Advance Readers Copy ebook in exchange for my honest review.
Sasha is a casting director, and no man has ever so perfectly fit the role of her love interest as the man in seat F she meets on a long flight. Somehow, the two lose track of each other in the airport and she realizes they didn't exchange any information that could lead her to his whereabouts. In order to track down the mysterious Seat F, Sasha calls up Wes, a man she hired as a private investigator year before, and the two work together to find Sasha's suitor all while ignoring their mounting attraction.
This isn't my favorite of Tia Williams' book but, c'mon, the woman cannot write a bad romance. When I read the sample of this in Buzz Books, I knew I was going to eat it up, although I really thought until I read the book that Seat F would be the love interest. I always appreciate the focus on characters' individual struggles in Tia Williams' books, and both Sasha's experience trying to escape her self-isolation and Wes's struggle with his family definitely hit close to home for me. I like them together and the whole scenario of Wes being hired to find Seat F sets up some nice tension. I'm a little iffy on the ending. I kind of thought it was going to go a different way and I might have preferred that to the ending we got, especially because it ends really abruptly and I feel like we don't get a ton of clarity on how certain plot lines pan out.
Still, it was fun and hot and it's absolutely the perfect summer read! Can't wait for everyone to get their hands on this!
Thank you to Tia Williams and Grand Central Publishing for this ARC in exchange for my full, honest review!
I really wanted to like this more than I did. One of my favorite parts about romance as a genre in general is you can get so creative and outlandish with a hook that really draws you in. A woman having a missed connection on a flight and hiring a precious love interest who is also a private detective to find him? Outlandish, interesting, and fun! The first half was super strong and I was loving the connection between the characters and moving between past and present. But the second half really fell apart for me. Sooooo much miscommunication and will they won’t they. I also feel like the author tossed in a bunch of big issues at the end with the male lead that were ultimately unresolved (daily drinking, family problems, poor self esteem, etc) that don’t leave you feeling confident about the viability of the couple in the future. And the ending wrapped up so quick! I didn’t even really get to enjoy the conclusion before it was over. Tia William’s writing still made this an enjoyable reading experience, but it definitely had a lot of aspects I tend to not enjoy in a romance novel.
Thank you to grand central publishing and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Tia Williams knows exactly how to put the comedy in romantic comedy. This was a laugh-out-loud roller coaster ride with lots of ups and downs and a few spirals inbetween. So my advice? Buckle up for the turbulence.
This is a tiny step outside of the Tia Williams’ normal adult romance house. While she typically infuses humor and a bit of levity into her work, this one took that and inflated it into an almost campy read. If you’re looking for a good time, this book is going to be right up your… terminal (get it? 😂)
I really loved the idea of the missed connection plot line idea, I did appreciate the depth / stories behind the characters, and the scenes that were funny truly did make me laugh out loud. However, this book did fall flat for me in terms of romance and plot.
There was something disjointed about the romance for me, I didn’t love how the whole missed connection plot ended up panning out and in general I don’t think this was Tia writing at her best (I say this as a super fan, ugh it hurts!). This felt like a YA novel trying to wear adult sized clothes and it made for an uncomfortable read.
With all of that being said, I think this is a case of preference! I like my romantic comedies to be heavier on romance (preferably with some weight) than comedy but if you love the comedic, light aspect, you’ll love this.
Overall, I think this is worthwhile read if you really want to vibe out and have a good time. My expectations were sky high and I think I wasn’t expecting to not feel the typical emotions I do in a Tia book.
Thank you Grand Central Publishing for this early copy in exchange for an honest review!
Overall this was an enjoyable read and I had a good time with it. I loved the chemistry between the actual MMC and FMC. I loved their banter, the sexual tension and the slow burn! The chemistry between them was so good that pretty early on- I didn’t care if she found seat F and didn’t want her to.
I had a good time picturing Wes as Daniel from Insecure(IYKYK 😜) 🤭
Tia Williams is an auto buy author for me, and this was one of my most anticipated reads this year, but I will say this was my least favorite book of hers. Don’t get me wrong, still enjoyable read but didn’t give me the swoony feels that all of her romances give me. I think for me, it was likely the miscommunication which was really big towards the end, more so with the FMC severely mis-reading MMC signals. It’s was clear as day this man was in love with her and he said as much. I think bc we spent a lot of time with the mystery aspect of seat F, that we weren’t able to have as much time on the romance- which I live for in romance books.
Tia Williams is the divine queen of romance that 2026 desperately needs to heal us from… everything. Her new book THE MISSED CONNECTION is so good I genuinely could not put it down.
The way she develops her characters…especially her female leads, just hits different. You feel everything Sasha is going through as she’s trying to fall in love, and it’s messy and vulnerable and so uniquely done. The premise alone hooked me: Sasha meets this sexy intelligent beautiful stranger on a plane, they have this electric six hour connection… and then they part ways without exchanging numbers. Nightmare fuel, honestly.
So what does she do? She spirals and hires a detective to track down “the man in seat F.” And not just any detective…a sexy, smart, beautiful one who just so happens to have a complicated past with her. Because of course. And that’s where things get really good.
Only Tia Williams could take a setup like this and turn it into something so layered, romantic, and completely addictive. It’s a total showstopper.
The cover on the other hand? We’re not gonna talk about that. Sorry to that designer.
A chance encounter, a message from fate, and a ghost from her past. A name is all that stands between Sasha and her happily ever after, as told by an aspiring palm reader/manicurist at the airport. We are right at Sasha’s side investigating who this mystery man could be. The only PI for the job: Wes, the man who solved a case for her years ago and offered her comfort at the worst point in her life. He walked away from Sasha and investigating, determined to have a fresh start. The tension! The chemistry! The mystery! Williams' writing is electric and captivating, full of beautiful emotion and thrilling twists, I truly couldn't put this down! I am impatiently waiting for this release to recommend to every person I encounter.
I am a fan of Tia Williams’ writing and was beyond thrilled to receive this advanced copy of THE MISSED CONNECTION. This book did not disappoint. The story itself is excellent and fun, but the banter between the main characters, Sasha and Wes, is the best! It is funny, real, sounds like listening to friends and I loved it. As I started to read a few lines out loud to my husband because I couldn’t keep them to myself after laughing out loud, I tried to remember the last time I felt the need to read aloud. Guess what?! The last time it happened was another Tia Williams book. No lie. This fun romance begins with Sasha breaking out of her comfort zone to return to work. She’s a casting agent on a flight to Paris and is as anxious as all get out. She experienced a trauma that upended her life and has lingering issues because of it. On the flight, she and the man in Seat F strike up a great conversation…for the entire flight. This is unlike her, even with drinks involved. After landing and going their separate ways, Sasha realized they did not exchange information. What if he is The One? Could this be for real? Who is this mystery man? How will she find him? Back in NYC, she turns to Wes, a former private investigator who has come through for her in the past and the search begins. Will Sasha find love? With a pub date of June 9, 2026, you will have to wait and see. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a little romance, loves humorous back and forth between characters, wants some surprises in their reads, and just really enjoys a good story. Trust me, you will be rooting for these characters.
*Mini spoiler for feedback purposes- As we get to know Wes better, I would’ve liked for him to have been a little more like the man we first met. All of us are flawed and that is real. I am still a little up in the air over the law-breaking context with the stalker and the brick and the really mean side that came out of Wes at the gala when he drank too much. It didn’t 100% vibe with the Wes we got to know up until that point.
THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND GRAND CENTRAL PUBLISHING FOR SENDING THIS BOOK FOR REVIEW CONSIDERATION. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.
I had the absolute BEST time reading The Missed Connection this ARC from NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing was everything I wanted and more!
My girl Tia just gets it when it comes to writing love stories. The chemistry? Effortless. The tension? Chef’s kiss. The emotional depth? Whew.
Sasha (FMC) had me locked in from the start smart, relatable, and just the right amount of messy in a way that felt so real. And Wes (MMC) Yeah… I’m not even gonna lie, I loved him BAD. The kind of book bae that has you smiling at your phone like you’re the one in the relationship. Even though they both got on my nerves throughout the whole book ignoring their feelings! Lol
And that Easter egg?! I see you, Tia!! That little detail made the reading experience feel even more special towards the end like a treat for your longtime readers.
This story gave romance, heart, humor, and that signature writing style that just pulls you in and refuses to let go. If you love romance that’s funny and swoony you’ll love this!
Grand Central Publishing did their thing with this approval because I am OBSESSED.
This is a fun one if you don’t think too hard on it. And sometimes that’s what you need! That’s what I needed in the moment I read this and it did just what I wanted.
Sasha is a casting director who is actually living a shut in life but trying to get out of it. She goes on a work trip and meets a gorgeous man in Seat F. They chat the whole flight. But never exchange names or numbers. So she does what any reasonable woman does in such a situation, hire a private detective.
I was all in on plane man being her intended and then Wes showed up and he and Sasha had a history and I was like how are they going to make Seat F not someone I want for her and for me to root for this Wes guy? They do and it’s silly but again, don’t think, just go for the mystery ride.
I didn’t get why Wes and Sasha couldn’t be together when they caught feelings. Like yeah he’s helping find Seat F but …. It’s ok if she just gets with Wes? She doesn’t HAVE to be with Seat F? Or go through with finding him at all??? That was a head scratcher but generally a fun time.
Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for the advance review copy. The Missed Connection is out June 9.
This book was super uneven and there was a scene that was super iffy in terms of dub con. The two MCs met several years in the past before the book starts, when the FMC was being stalked and she hired the MMC, at the time a private detective, to find out who was stalking her. He does so and also they have a sexual encounter but then they go their separate ways and then cut to present day, she meets this guy while on a flight and she's a little drunk and loses sight of him in the airport before they can exchange numbers or names. So she hires Wes, now a bbq food truck owner, to help her track down her mystery man. The book is kind of boring at the beginning and then picks up the pace but the end goes so wildly off the rails and makes no sense. Both the MCs come off a bit unhinged especially after that charity function. I wanted to love it but I just couldn't get there.
Content Notes: toxic family dynamics, emotional abuse, stalking, scary notes and phone calls and damage to property
Thank you to Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for allowing me an ARC of this story. This was my first Tia Williams' book and I adored her writing.
Williams has a way of making modern romance feel intelligent and emotionally aware, and that’s what kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed the story while I was reading it, but I never felt deeply invested in the characters or their relationship. The chemistry was there on paper, yet something about the pacing and emotional buildup kept me at a distance. I understood why the characters were drawn to each other, but I didn’t always feel it alongside them. Williams writes with wit and confidence, and she captures the complexity of adult relationships better than many contemporary romance authors.
I was invested in Sasha and Wesley from the beginning and hoped for them to be endgame but the Seat F of it all really made their connection drag on. I kept wondering how Williams was going to desecrate Seat F's character in order to make the main love story "stick".
This was a 3 star read for me because I had fun but it's not a story that is sticking with me or that I keep thinking about.
I loved, loved, loved this one! Loved the main characters so much; they both were so emotionally complex, but so relatable and it was easy to root for them, both individually and jointly. The romance was so swoony and steamy, I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. The author was very thoughtful and sensitive in their portrayal of a character working through anxiety and trauma issues. It felt so empowering to see this character struggle and ultimately find her way. I also wanted to mention how much I loved the setting in NYC. Several specific spots in the city were mentioned that were previously unknown to me, and I added them to my ever-growing list of places to visit when I hopefully get to explore the city in person someday.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and it’s clear I’ve been missing out! Highly recommend this one.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
THE MISSED CONNECTION ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. Release Date 6/9/26. Tia Williams is an author I’ve be meaning to read for years, after this book I imagine I will be attacking her catalog quickly. Sasha is a booked and busy casting agent, on a long flight to Paris she flirts the entire time with her seat mate, except they forget to exchange names or numbers. Coming back to NYC, she enlists an old friend to assist in the search. This was such an easy, well written, sexy read. I really enjoyed the chemistry, the pop culture references and the way Williams weaves in vulnerability. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for a honest review! Publishing June 9, 2026!
Sasha has played it so safe since dealing with past trauma. She doesn’t date, doesn’t risk and doesn’t steer from the plan. But when she’s seated to an incredibly charming and genuine man on a flight, she feels it’s meant to be. But a meet cute turns into a missed connection when after their 6 hour flight they never exchanged contacts.
Sasha is determined to continue to take a risk and hires a private detective from her past to help find “Seat F”. But this detective knows her well, knows her trauma and honestly maybe the way to her heart.
Cute cute cute and a bit spicy. My first book of Tia Williams’ and I’d definitely read another.
Tia Williams does it again! This tale of adventure, love, lust, overcoming trauma—and yes, missed connections—managed to pull off a successful balance of sexy, engaging, and funny with extremely huggable lovable characters.
Sasha is making an attempt to re-enter the world in her career as a successful casting director after an event that leaves her scared and vulnerable. After a palm reader/manicurist tells her that she’s one man away from an epic romance, she’s shocked to encounter the perfect man sitting next to her on the flight. Unfortunately, no contact information is exchanged, and Sasha embarks on a wild journey to find her man, hiring a detective to help track him down. But not just any detective. A kind, smart (and veryyyyy handsome) detective, who Sasha may or may not have a past with…
I just genuinely enjoyed reading this book. There are so many funny moments, characters, and situations, but it’s well balanced with the mystery and sexual tension. Honestly, I was not that into the mystery aspect of the story, but that was okay because there was plenty of other plot pieces drawing my attention. My only complaint is that I wish the “strangers-finding-love” piece was better incorporated into the story. I would’ve loved to see either some short POVs or just random interactions of these people with Sasha where the reader knows whats going on, alla Adam Silvera. But that wasn’t really a central part of the story, so it was fine.
Looking for a lighthearted read with whimsy, mystery, and sexy men? This story is definitely for you.
